June 2013

Things you are saying...
It's sunny outside!
Look Mom, it's not raining
Don't panic, I got this
Let's go play in the other water (splash pad at a park)
Let's go on an adventure

Things you are watching...
Jungle Book
The Blue Elephant
Mighty Machines
Wallace & Gromit

Things you are eating...
Tortillas
Toast
Sweet mini peppers
Cherry tomatoes off the vine
Snap peas off the vine
Raspberries
Broccoli

Things you are saying in the backseat...

Will: 'What happened to that tree brother?'
Alex: 'It fell down'
Will: 'No it didn't, it's standing up'
Alex: 'Where? Over there?'
Will: 'No that way'
Alex: 'Okay brother, it's standing up'

William...

You lectured a bumblebee and threatened to get a highchair and put it in timeout. All because Alex fell in a lavender bush and got a sliver that you both thought was a bee sting.

When making your book selection for the evening you often remark that the books that you are putting back are 'too busy'. You picked your nose in the tubby tonight and asked for a tissue. When I gave it to you, you wiped it off of your finger and made a tight ball saying, 'My booger is tired now, I put it in it's room so that it can sleep'.

Yesterday, you told me that the monsters pooped all over your bed. You continued your poop discussion with talk of spiders pooping, birds pooping, babies pooping, books pooping...pretty much everything was pooping.

The other night you told me that you were scared of monsters but it was okay because they weren't in our habitat.

Alexander...

You love to sleep on your stomach with your baby doll shoved up the front of your shirt. Apparently you shove your blanket in your shirt during nap time at school as well.

Whenever you are watching a movie, you grab a corner of something to distractedly chew on. All of the quilts and blankets in the house are fair game for the slobber fest.

You talk your brother through some of his 'terrible two' moments by sweetly chiming in with 'It's okay brother, things are okay, you're okay.'

Every time we are getting ready for bed, you are the first one to lay down and repeatedly remind us that you're a good boy because you are laying down. The problem is, you are still talking long after Will has fallen asleep.

Father's Day

These little feet love running through life next to you each and every day. Thank you for always being there to make us laugh, think, learn and (of course) eat pancakes. We LOVE your pancakes!

We are so very lucky to have you in our lives.
Happy Father's Day!

XOXO,
The Gang

May 2013

When you are not eating, you enjoy helping me bake, especially if you get to measure, crack eggs and mix. The muffins we make are always called 'cupcakes' and if we share them with others you always boast that you helped make them.

You both love finding a spot on the wall and exclaiming 'spider!' over and over until I investigate. The vote is always to take it outside.

Every morning you run to the window and look outside. If there is ANY sunlight and no rain, you insist that it's sunny and plead to go outside and play with the water.

There are frequent requests that we go on an adventure. Adventures are pretty much any trips to a place other than school. The NASCAR cart with the steering wheels makes the grocery store fun and you know which direction to head to get to all of the nearby parks.

When we do get to a park, you are both very sad and concerned if there is nobody else there. You repeat, 'there's no people' over and over until someone walks by or arrives. You greet everyone and try to play with any kiddo that makes eye contact with you. When I took you to the park the other day, we spent three hours digging, swinging, chasing and making friends as they passed through.

Tubby time is full of interesting conversation between the two of you. You are fighting less and sharing more. The pinching and biting and hitting is easing into splashing and bubble swapping. Problem solving and team work is creating absolutely hilarious interactions. The other day, Will stood up to pee in the tub and Alex held a rinse cup patiently while it filled up.

Bedtime always involves lots of stories followed by requests for water. You are both sleeping through the night again and usually stay in your room until 5:00 a.m. You love to exclaim 'green light get up' and are proud when you stay in your room until 5:30 a.m. to watch your clock change from yellow to green.

Alexander...

You are peeing in the toilet during tubby time every night. There have been a few more successful poops as well. I pretty much go ballistic whenever you try which makes you clap and grin and squeal.

Every question or direction is answered with an enthusiastic 'YAY!'. Those critter handling skills of yours are vastly improving.

William...

You prefer to be the one who gives instructions about what not to touch and which things are dangerous. It is rather amusing that you are such a rule demanding daredevil.

I love listening to you process through something and articulate what you are thinking. Your lively conversation is pretty dynamic and entertaining.

Mother's Day

Brunch and mimosas in the sunshine with my boys, what more could a Mama ask for...

Thank you for making my day special,
XOXO Mii
