Saturday Sunshine

Hurray for sunshine two Saturdays in a row!  These pictures are from last Saturday's adventure outside.  It was the first time that the boys officially wore shorts and played in the rays...

Alexander

 William

P.S.  Little boys in sun hats melt my heart.  They also remind me of my brother's legendary 'Yvonne Yellow Head' days.  We love you Uncle Douglas!

Belated Bunnies

Our little bunnies had a wonderful time celebrating their first Easter.  We visited family, ate an amazing brunch and watched the boys perform some new tricks.  Alex is now rolling on to his tummy and using his arms (and his forehead) to inch forward.  It is such a delight to watch both of them discover new ways to move and interact with the world and each other.

My happy little bunnies...

Alexander

Thanks for spoiling us Grandma and Grandpa!  You really knocked our ears off with all of the love, goodies and hugs.  Just think, next year we can hunt for eggs instead of modems. :)

Yummy Yams

I made the boys a batch of yummy yams the other day.  The reviews are mixed, Alex enjoyed the new taste and Will was not overly impressed...

Alex was having so much fun feeding himself.

Will remained unimpressed.

I put the rest in the freezer so we can try again later...

Silly Goose

Before the boys arrived, our cat Goose ruled the roost.  We had deep discussions about politics, shared salad greens and snuggled on the couch together.  Those of you who know me have heard plenty of stories about Goose and her antics.  She is a very clever cat and realized that her world was going to be turned upside down months before the boys were born.  To show her anxiety over the impending doom, Goose paced the house and howled constantly.

Once the boys arrived and took over her territory, the pacing and howling continued.  She also added a few tricks to her act.  Stealing pacifiers and penny sized membranes for my pump from the drying rack were on the top of her naughty list.  We would find the incriminating evidence floating in her water dish a day or two later.

As the months pass, Goose is becoming more and more curious.  She often perches nearby and watches the action...

When she realizes we are watching she looks nonchalant...

Now that we are feeding the boys solids, she is glued to the stool and watching their every move.  She will reach out her paw occasionally with the hope of sneaking a taste.  Rice cereal is currently her favorite (she licked the spills up as soon as they hit the floor)...

P.S.  We do have another cat named Finnegan.  We love him very much.  Finn is a little less active and a LOT larger.  When the boys start crawling his lifestyle will dramatically change.  For now, he can be found in the exact same spot most of the day...

P.P.S.  Sleeping in the dryer is NOT allowed in our house.  Goose added that trick to her naughty list last week.

7 Months

You two still stop traffic whenever we go out and about.  I am getting pretty good at driving the double stroller through crowds and around tight corners in the store (the people that stop and ask me if you are twins are the trickiest thing to navigate).  A few weeks ago, we noticed that you are fighting over toys already.  In fact, your favorite game involves stashing all of the toys out of each others reach.  Whether scheming together or alone, it is very apparent that you enjoy having a brother to keep you company.

 William...

You save your giggles for cheek kissing, stomach nibbling and zurperts.  Dr. Seuss's ABC Alphabet Book is your favorite right now. Whenever I am reading a story, you really prefer that I ONLY show you the pictures instead of sharing them with your brother.  Everything still goes in your mouth and your intense stare tracks all of the food that travels to our mouths.  You nearly wrestled my coffee out of my hand today, so I went out and bought you a fancy cup of your own (sans coffee).  The sippy cup is uncharted territory for you but once you get the hang of it, you will be triumphant (and hopefully less grabby when it comes to our beverages).

Alexander...

Your gurgles, coos and constant happy babbling makes my heart shine.  No matter what you have to talk about, your brother is willing to listen.  Recently the world above you has captured your interest, especially the mobile over your crib.  The low dangly bumblebee had to retreat to higher ground and the dragonfly ended up soggy after a 10 minute flight in your mouth today.  You are the master of gentle, open handed touches and I love it when you use your hands to explore my face.  Rolling over is becoming second nature to you now, but you get frustrated and cry for help whenever you get stuck on your tummy.  As predicted, your wiggles at night almost always end with you sleeping soundly on your tummy.

We love you both from the very top of your heads down to the tip of your yummy little toes...

 XOXOXO,
Dad & Mom

Bugs Bunny Band-Aids

We headed back to the doctor Friday morning for a round of shots (they were postponed last week because of Will's ear infections).  The good news is his ears look better, the bad news is he suffered from a "drug eruption" just like his brother.  The hives started around 6:30 am and were presenting wonderfully by the time we hit the doctor's office at 8:45 am. Luckily, I recognized the signs and stopped the amoxicillin.  The crazy thing is that Will and Alex reacted the exact same way on the exact same day during their second round of amoxicillin.  Sometimes being identical has its drawbacks...

Alex is not suffering from ear infections but he is battling another cold.  Aaron and I both have been dealing with all sorts of funk ourselves- sinus infections, vertigo, stomach cramps, headaches, you name it.  It appears that our good health is hiding in an undisclosed location with the sunshine and dry weather.  Thank goodness for blue eyes and Bugs Bunny Band-Aids,without them we would truly be lost...

We were delighted to share our walk about the neighborhood this evening with Sophie and sunshine (and wee little dust particles on the phone camera lens)...

Solids & Sippy Cups

Today was a big day...

Alexander was not impressed with how slow food travels to his mouth when a spoon is involved.  He eventually broke down and insisted on speeding things up with a bottle.  When he finally finished off his rice cereal he was quite pleased with himself.

William opened up his mouth like a bird and ate like a pro.  He finished off his first bowl of solids without any hesitation.  He is definitely ready to explore more tastes and other big boy accessories like sippy cups...

Stay tuned for more food adventures...
